Hello! We’ve been running comedy nights in our splendid West Sussex seaside town since 2008, and this page is a quick introduction to what we’re about.
Matt’s began life as a one-off church gig organised by St Matthew’s Church and has grown into one of the UK’s top community-run comedy clubs, providing regular massively entertaining nights with a friendly atmosphere, a clean comedy ethos, and at great value prices! We’re non-profit, so any funds left over after we’ve met costs get ploughed back into the club.
Top names we have hosted at Matt’s Comedy Club include Milton Jones, Tim Vine, John Hegley, Zoe Lyons, James Acaster, Andy Kind and Jude Simpson, and we launched the first ever Worthing Comedy Festival in 2010.
We also seek to encourage new comedy talent by running regular Open Mic nights for local acts (the photo above shows Russ and Al presenting a cheque to Worthing Churches Homeless Projects from a Pay As You Laugh night), and are excited to be working closely with Worthing Theatres.
All gigs kick off at 8pm at the Connaught Studio (formerly The Ritz) in Worthing Town Centre, and tickets are just £9 (£7 concessions).
You’ll find tickets on sale from Worthing Theatres’ box office at www.worthingtheatres.co.uk or 01903 206206. We also sell through independent local businesses Parklife, Bath Place; The Lazy Brunch, Goring Road; Music Mania, West Buildings; and St Matthew’s Church Office, Tarring Road.
If you fancy watching some video clips from past shows, head for www.youtube.com/mattscomedyclub and if you want any more info (maybe you’re an aspiring stand up and fancy a spot at one of our regular Open Mic nights) you can also mail gig MC and club co-founder Russ Bravo (who you can follow on Twitter too).
